Paris: le Troisième Jour

VERSAILLES!Day 3 was spent at the Palace of Versailles... and it was every bit as amazing as I had hoped. This was one of my most favorite parts of the trip (second only to the culture of Montmartre).

We spent the first half of the day inside the palace roaming it's luxurious halls where I found my favorite (and the most famous) painting of Louis XIV by Rigaud in the Apollo Salon!!! Yay!

We then found our way into the Hall of Mirrors which, as you can see, we were very excited about.

Luckily the weather cleared up towards the afternoon and we were able to wander the gardens rain-free. The picture above is the gorgeous Latona fountain with the palace behind it.

SWIRLIES! Haha... this was my favorite of the MANY gardens at the Château. It is called the Orangerie and was designed/built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Aside from the coolness factor of the swirlies, it is also neat to note that some of the orange trees from Portugal, Spain and Italy, and lemon and pomegranate trees are over 200 years old!

We also hit up Marie Antoinette's estate and this is a lovely photo of me skipping down her long ass driveway. Apparently it pays to be the king's honey.

To end our short and lovely trip, we took a boat cruise down the Seine at night. It was a bit touristy, but still fun as hell.

Later days, Paris, je vous manque.
