Auld Lang Syne
Admittedly, I have never been a New Year's Eve type of person. For the majority of my life, I have spent the final hours of the year getting beaten in board games with my family instead of in a swanky black dress, champagne in hand (as I always imagine myself at fabulous parties).
Thus, for me, January 1st rarely brings the typical reflective thoughts one muses on following the flip of the calendar. However, I came across this while reading Neil Gaiman's blog, and couldn't resist sharing:
I think it's also more appropriate given that it's January 9th - somehow that seems less hoaky. I'm not sure why, but I'm running with it.
Long story short, I'm not going to attempt to say anything inspiring. Neil already did that for me, and much more eloquently than I ever could have. It's not new, nor is it particularly breakthrough thinking, but what I will say is this - I am going to do all of those things. Mind you, this is NOT a New Year's resolution. I think that they are things that you should do every year, because hell! Doesn't that sound like the kind of life one wants? I know I do.
I suppose if any sort of reflecting must be done... then let us reflect on this: What exactly is "GOOD MADDNESS" and how do I get more of it in my life?
Later days, happy January.
